Working at Home: On Not Giving Up

August 25th, 2011 by Girl Working From Home

I actually don’t remember anyone telling me that making money by working from “work at home jobs” was ever going to be easy.

It’s not always easy work; work at home jobs fall through. You get a client base and clients drop off. Markets where you do you work become more competitive. Your bills keep coming and sometimes they get more expensive. Life happens.

I think there’s only one thing you can do when you work from home: never give up.

Always be willing to learn new things, adapt to new pressures, and realize that every failure is a success in disguise. We can never, ever succeed in life without some failures first.

Why Work From Home?

I think that the most common reason for people wanting to work from home is simple:

Children under the age of five.

Five-years-old is when the little whippersnappers get shipped off to that socialist paradise known as “public school.”

Until then, parents need to either figure out how to pay exorbitant daycare fees OR not work at all (stay at home full time as parents) OR (if starving is not an option), figure out a way to work from home.

Working at Home – The Holy Grail?

June 30th, 2011 by Girl Working From Home

There are a TON of articles and websites out there dedicated to finding legitimate work from home jobs, and there are a lot of scams, too. Is working from home THE ultimate “holy grail” of jobs?

Do all of us secretly think that we would be happier, more productive and have many of our problems solved if we were able to work from home?

If someone was given a choice – $100K a year to work from home – or $100K a year to do the identical job in an office – is there ANYONE who would choose going into an office every day over being able to work from home in pajamas?

This site has up-to-date information on how to find legit work at home jobs. There are too many scams out there, taking advantage of the battered economy and people who are desperate to earn money. The first rule of finding a legitimate work from home job is this: NEVER pay any money up front.

Here is how jobs work: you work and you get paid by the employer.

Here is how jobs do NOT work: you pay employer first, then do work, and then “employer” either fails to pay or doesn’t pay at all.

When you are looking for work from home jobs, keep in mind that every single legitimate work from home job will require you to have a computer and a fast internet connection. It’s essential.

Another thing to keep in mind: treat applying to a work from home job as you would any other paying job. Create a resume that highlights your experience and skills. Make sure you have good references.

When you get a work from home job, treat it as you would any other. Set an amount of time to work every day. Make sure that this time is uninterrupted.

The great part of working from home is that you can choose your own hours.

The downside is that there are always things to distract you: kids, the television, friends, the phone, etc.

When you get a work from home job, make sure that you prioritize it as you would any other paying job.
